Sizey bags 5 as the rain comes again!
For all the weekend’s action read on!
Aldborough CC v Gt Witchingham CC A
The Green, Aldborough
Gt Witchingham 181 for 6 off 45 overs
Match abandoned due to rain
A bright warm afternoon saw the visit of Gt Witchingham to The Green in this crunch match in Division 1 of the Norfolk Cricket League. Aldborough, on the back of smashing over 300 against Norwich B, lost the toss and were unsurprisingly asked to field. The track looked good and despite some early movement for Reeve the G W openers survived the early exchanges. Hales (27) eventually fell to Reeve with a solid catch from Ash at square leg and Baker followed for a second ball duck. Aldborough piled on the pressure with the run rate falling to under 2 an over with some good bowling from Dingle, Bacon and latterly Flannigan. Wickets fell at key times and the long resistence of Dacre was eventually ended for 53 as G W stumbled to 181 for 6 thanks to some good hitting at the end from Black (36).
During the tea break the heavens opened and a short but devastating storm left the pitch looking more like a swimming pool than a cricket wicket forcing a reluctant Aldborough captain, Eddy Botwright, to call a halt to proceedings before G W could bowl a ball.
Aldborough CC ‘A’ v Old Buckenham CC ‘B’

Aldborough’s bowling attack had O B reeling on 91-6 after 34 overs when a rain shower ended the days play. In form Charlie Mack bagged another four wickets to add to his growing tally.
Sunday (Friendly)
Aldborough CC v Swanton Morley CC
The Green, Aldborough
Aldborough won by 121 runs.
Aldborough handed a debut to young Kenny Edmonds who joined the growing group of under 16’s playing for Aldborough this season. Jake Sayers and Daniel Broughton also played in a game dominated by youngsters on both sides. Aldborough batted first and Charlie Mack batted solidly for 32 while Reeve (57) was in his usual classy, run scoring form in the middle order. Cannon hit a brief 26 before smashing a straight six to bring an end to his innings due to the six and out rule. At the end of the order, Kenny Edmonds batted the last 7 overs to make a good 14 not out and when Reeve departed, Broughton saw out the last over including a glorious cover drive to send The Greens to the break in high spirits having made 185 for 7.
Swanton Morley looked a little weak and were taken apart by a strong Aldborough attack. Leg spinner Ben Sizeland took an impressive 5for on his first weekend back on The Green. The Spin King was ably assisted by The Hoff who took 2for in a fizzing display of spin bowling form Aldborough’s premier spin partnership. Reeve was as miserly as ever going for just 9 off his 6 overs and Sayers and Broughton both turned their arms over to end the S M resistence. They were bowled out for 64.
Next week Aldborugh CC travel to Bungay while the A’s host Rocklands A at Cawston. Sunday sees Aldborough travel to Aylsham for the six a side tournament as The Green is taken over by the Fair for the weekend.
Congratulations to Mike Cramp on his marriage into the Fish Family. And well done to the Aldborough Players who put on a great show over the weekend. David Robinson played particularly well, with a solid comedy performance in the middle order. Oh, and well done Barnsey on 50 years of marriage. What an innings!
See you on The Green!
