Captain Botwright Smashes 90!

A match winning 90 from 1’s skipper Eddy Botwright was the highlight of another mixed Aldborugh weekend as the 2’s crashed again to Lowestoft B. The 1’s travelled to Rollesby hampered only by Eddy’s inability to work a petrol pump. The seam attack was bang on target again with Dingle taking 3 for and Perry-Warnes, Reeve, Ash and Allen all returning good figures. Ben Flanagan also bowled some top off-breaks to restrict the struggling batsmen. Rollesby posted 160 for 9.

After a slow start in reply (7-1 off 7 overs) Botwright decided enough was enough and swiftly took the Rollesby attack apart including 5 huge sixes amidst an aggressive innings of 90. Streaky Bacon then skipped to the crease to bang 39 not out and see the team home with 17 overs to spare.

The 2’s hosted a strong Lowestoft side and found themselves batting first on a green wicket. After 20 overs the team were 29 for 2 and the innings never recovered from there, stumbling along to 146 for 6 with only Tony Fell (68) offering any strong resistance. Swinbourne was again left unbeaten in the mid teens and is now surely pushing for a place up the order. Lowestoft knocked off the runs without much panic and left the 2’s with a lot of thinking to do before Saturday’s trip to Halvergate.

On Sunday, Cookies Friendly X1 beat Hemsby on The Green with some good hitting from Fisher, Flanagan and Perry-Warnes.

This Saturday the 1’s play Hethersett and Tas Valley on The Green in a potentially huge fixture (Both teams come into the game unbeaten) with the 2’s away at Halvergate. Hope to see you all there, either playing or shouting the boys on.

See you on The Green!
